Architectural Designer – Design Associate

Thomas Jacob Flitsch Architects P.C. was established in 2013 with a focus on senior housing and multi-family redevelopment, development, and refurbishment. The firm provides services to many large publicly traded or privately held companies like Equity Residential, Liv Corp, UDR, E&S Ring, Irvine Residential, and Atria Senior Living. As a Certified Access Specialist, the firm also provides technical Accessibility Compliance support to many architectural firms and lawyers. 


Thomas Flitsch is an architect and a Certified Access Specialist (CASp) with specialized experience redevelopment of multifamily properties. Mr. Flitsch has an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Loyola-Marymount University in Los Angeles and a Bachelor of Architecture as well as a Bachelor of Science in Building Sciences from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. Mr. Flitsch is NCARB certified and registered to practice architecture in New York (inactive,) California, Hawaii, and Arizona. He is also a Member of the American Institute of Architects and serves as the treasurer on the Ventura chapter's board of directors.


The Architectural Designer – Design Associate is a partner-track position. The associate will assist the architect’s team in preparing design documents, construction documents, reports, and inspections. The associate will be encouraged to register with the NCARB Architectural Experience Program and work toward licensure following the AXP program. Upon passing license qualifications, the associate would be on track for partnership.


Qualifications:

  • The desired candidate will have completed a Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited university accepted by the Architectural Review Board for licensure as a registered architect.
  • The desired candidate will be a motivated and dedicated individual with attention to detail and willingness to solve problems.
  • The desired candidate will be creative and logical, able to apply knowledge and experiences to new applications.
  • The desired candidate will have some experience producing drawings for design presentations or construction documentation, and/or the desired candidate will have had some hands on experience in construction or on construction projects.
  • The desired candidate will have professional social skills, be able to multi-task, and be computer literate.  
  • The desired candidate will have comfort working in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; Google platforms; and Adobe programs, including Photoshop. The desired candidate will have some experience in AutoCad, Revit, Sketchup, and other CADD programs.
  • The desired candidate will be humble yet confident and would demonstrate the ability to serve clients' needs and offer wise council to teammates and clients.


Work Location would be in person in Westlake Village, California, United States.
